Description
:
Reddish brown carapace and legs with
2 prominent ocellated spots on upper rear of back. Claws black. Last walking legs have the last segment enlarged to paddles, which are used for swimming. Long spine on each side of carapace.

Ecology
Sand and seagrass, plus reef, but in Antigua also spotted in rocky harbour pilings etc. Found at depths down to 90 ft/ 30m. Omnivorous, typically thin-shelled bivalves, annelids, small fish, plants and carrion. Pugnacious.
