Description:
Tan to dark purple body and legs, covered with numerous black-ringed white spots.
Ecology
Reclusive nocturnal omnivore, feeding on bivalves, chitons, other crustaceans, bivalves and gastropods. This species is found on coral and rocky reefs and sometimes lagoonal patch reefs. This species will not leave reef habitat and have high reef fidelity, which makes them susceptible to local depletion. During the day they hide under reef ledges 6 to 75ft (2-25m)
Life Cycle
Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues). Fertilisation via indirect sperm transfer. Male specimens typically reach sexual maturity at 36-37 mm (Carapace Length), aged 2 - 3 years.
