Size
Carapace up to 5cm.
Description:
Carapace highly granular.with 8 pairs of spines along anterior edge. 9-10 spines from midline to rear edge. Upper claw arm with 6 sharp spines on outer margin. Claw with large tooth in centre. Carapace (shell) maroon on upper side and red and white on underbody. Claws olive, with white tips. Heavily bristled on legs.
Ecology
In rubble at depths to 30ft (10m). Forages at night. Feeds on algae and carrion.
